Vietnam restores immigration policy as before the COVID-19 epidemic

The Government Office has just issued a document on the restoration of Vietnam’s immigration policy.

Accordingly, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh agreed to restore from March 15 the measures and procedures on immigration for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese as before the application of the regulations. restrictive measures to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic, on the basis of compliance with the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam and guiding documents.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with concerned ministries and agencies in, formulating immigration policies with partners within the framework of bilateral and multilateral relations; continue negotiations with other countries on the recognition of each other’s vaccine passports, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to go abroad; promulgating guidelines for the application of vaccine passports by foreigners in Vietnam; notify relevant countries/territories about the change in Vietnam’s immigration policy.

The Ministry of Health is required to provide guidance on medical conditions for people entering the country in accordance with the new situation.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh assigned the Ministry of Public Security to strengthen residence management for foreigners entering according to regulations and in line with epidemic prevention measures.

Relevant ministries and agencies must urgently implement Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022 of the Government on the exemption of visas for citizens of the following countries: Germany, France, Italy, and the West. Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus.
