Belarus’s president says he has no plans to go to war in Ukraine

“I have said more than 1,000 times that we have no plans to fight in Ukraine. But the issue is heating up. Belarusians do not allow war at the genetic level. That’s why it started being exploited. In Soviet times, it was wise to talk not only about propaganda but also counter-propaganda. So we need to react calmly, but without making excuses“, BelTA news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying.

The Belarusian president also criticized the opposition for influencing people’s psychology when he announced that the Belarusian army would participate in combat operations in the neighboring country. In addition, he said that opposition activists are forming volunteer units to fight in Ukraine.

“So, in fact, who are fighting in Ukraine?”, Mr. Lukashenko asked.

President Lukashenko believes that foreign accusations that Belarus is planning to participate in the war in Ukraine are intentional. “Therefore, public opinion is being prepared to draw us in“, Lukashenko affirmed.

The Belarusian leader added: “We can only be drawn into war only in case an invasion is launched against us, in case they go to war with us. That’s why I’m always on guard“.
