The guest in the program “Assessment of treasures” in the recent issue is Mr. Hoang Tinh Tuyen from Shanghai – a successful businessman in the import-export industry. His family has had a business tradition since 1990, from commerce, real estate investment to retail.
Outside of work, he loves to collect antiques and spends a lot of money on this passion. He said that if he liked a certain painting or calligraphy, no matter how high the price was, he still tried to spend money to buy it.
10 years ago, he sold 12 apartments he owned to buy a collection of paintings by artist Thach Dao of the Qing Dynasty. The set of paintings “Thanh Giang Hanh” has 12 paintings of Dai Thanh river and water combined with calligraphy praising the natural scenery.

This time Mr. Hoang brought the program to ask experts “Treasure inspection” to consider and help the value of this collection.
Having just seen the set of paintings, the experts had to admire: “You sold 12 houses to buy this set of paintings, so each house can be exchanged for one painting page?”
Hoang nodded and smiled. The whole studio was also agitated because of the owner’s willingness to play.
Thach Dao (1642–1707) was a famous painter of aristocratic background in the Ming Dynasty, born in the early Qing Dynasty. He took the surname Chu but took the name Thach Dao. After the end of the Ming Dynasty, Thach Dao left home and practiced calligraphy and landscape painting in many temples.
As a person who loves to wander, roaming around in all directions, he travels to many lands to get inspiration for painting, has many confidants in the flower festival world. He twice offered paintings to Emperor Kangxi, claiming to be “God of the Sangha”.

Talking about the series of paintings on the wave of “Treasure Inspection”, experts said that these picture pages all have autographs of “banyan trees” in the art world.
For example, the painting “Thach Dao Giang Hanh of the Book” has a title line by contemporary artist Ly Kha Kham. Others have the autographs of the Ming and Qing dynasties or the seal of the painter Yaming, president of the Association of Chinese Artists in Jiangsu. These are all reputable names attesting to the series.
“Thach Dao is a creative painter who does not depend on the ancients, he even opposes the imitation of antiquity. You can see that these 12 paintings each have a completely different composition, certainly the same. Drawing from real scene.

I also know that this is a real painting because the pen strokes are flexible, sometimes dark, sometimes dry, sometimes wet like this, it must be a master painter to handle it. It must be said that it is extremely delicate!” – the expert commented on the set of paintings.
The last set of paintings “Thanh Giang Hanh” was valued at least 100 million yuan by experts, each picture page is worth 1 apartment, which is very common. Mr. Hoang was extremely satisfied with this result, he thanked the expert and brought back the precious paintings for continued careful preservation.
