Morgan Stanley senior analyst Katy Huberty believes that if rumors about Apple’s hardware rental service are accurate, it will have a positive impact on the company’s stock value.

Recently it was reported that Apple will change the business model and allow users to buy iPhones and other devices on a monthly basis. Analyst Huberty believes that the average user pays Apple a $1 fee for hardware and services, but would be willing to pay more if given access to both Apple devices and software.

The iPhone, Mac, and iPad subscription program can have multiple plans at different prices. Maybe Apple will offer a basic subscription for older iPhones and more expensive plans for modern technology. This will allow users to choose the best plan for them depending on their income level and desires.

Huberty believes that the advantage of this model can be shortened equipment replacement cycles. Apple would also benefit from increasing the amount a user spends as well as shifting more customers to a direct-to-customer model, bypassing carriers and retailers. She thinks this will help increase the value of Apple’s stock, so within 12 months, the company’s stock will increase to $210.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Apple was working on a subscription service that would allow users to buy iPhones and other hardware products for a monthly fee. The Services will be Apple’s biggest push yet into the company’s recurring revenue streams, essentially turning its Services model into a profitable hardware business every year. However, the project is still under development and the initiative has yet to be announced. Bloomberg adds that Apple’s hardware rental service can also tie into the company’s existing services like Apple One and AppleCare.
