After extending the blockade order that began on March 28 and was scheduled to end on April 5, Shanghai began classifying residential areas to ease epidemic prevention and control restrictions.

At a press conference on April 11, Mr. Co Hong Huy, Deputy Secretary General of the city government, said that Shanghai will make flexible adjustments according to the region to try to minimize the impact of the epidemic on people. . Accordingly, there will be 3 areas set up, including “control area” where F0 is present for 7 days, residents will not be allowed to leave the house; “management area” are places where there is no F0 within 7 days, people are allowed to move in the area and “precautionary zone”where there is no F0 within 14 days, people are allowed to move but not to the other 2 areas.

Meanwhile, according to Ms. Jiang Rui, director of the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, Shanghai started to launch the movement “Establishing disease-free residential communities”, similar to the “green zone without COVID-19” with areas without positive cases for 14 days in a row, as well as meeting the requirements of epidemic prevention and ensuring the lives of residents, and at the same time calling on people to actively participate.

Speaking on April 10 when Shanghai conducted the sixth round of nationwide testing, Chinese Vice Premier Sun Xuan Lan called on the city government to “Confidently face difficulties”, “continue to fight”, “save maximum testing time, improve efficiency, quickly give results, promptly detect people at risk and move away quick treatment”.

Strict blockade, mass testing is a central part of the strategy “no dynamic COVID-19” pursued by China, but even with tough measures, preventing the spread of Omicron is becoming increasingly difficult.
