Hanoi: Parents have “red eyes” looking for a preschool for their children

It is not easy for all parents to find a preschool for their children

According to statistics in Hanoi, currently the number of children attending schools in private establishment is more than 158,000, accounting for 30% of the total number of preschool children in the area. Faced with the fact that many non-public schools have stopped operating or reduced their size, many Parents also urgently survey to make early choices for their children.

Ms. Quynh Trang (Hoang Mai district) said that when she heard the news that the child could return to school, she was very happy. However, it took almost a year to open the school, so the kindergarten near her house was dissolved. She is looking for a place to send her children, because public schools say they are overcrowded and have to wait until the enrollment season for the new school year instead of accepting children at the end of the school year.

In the same situation, Ms. Linh Ngoc (Thanh Oai district). Ms. Linh shared: “Hanoi let preschool children go back to school on March 14, but I have not found a new place to study for my children. The old school has been dissolved.”

Most parents with children of preschool age assess that it is very difficult to find schools and classes for their children at this time. Many parents also determine to give their children an extra time off because they have to find a school that meets the standards and has good facilities.

Choosing a high-quality preschool with good facilities is a top priority for many parents

Hanoi is one of the localities where preschool children take the longest leave in the country. The prolonged epidemic has caused thousands of private preschool education institutions to fall into financial distress. According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, by the end of February 2022, over 500 private preschools had to be dissolved due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the city currently has 1,145 preschool education institutions with more than 525,000 children enrolled. In which, more than 158,000 children enrolled in independent preschool education institutions of the type of people founded and private, accounting for 30%. Private preschools are wobbly and insolvent because of the epidemic, which means that many children will be at risk of missing school places.

Regarding the solution to restore the operation of private and non-public preschool facilities, Mr. Chu Xuan Dung, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee, proposed the Department of Education and Training to create favorable conditions, especially when schools wishing to establish new, avoid cumbersome administrative procedures. In order to attract the return of preschool teachers, schools need to widely publicize information about recruitment needs so that they can access; at the same time organize teacher training, improve the quality of education.
