Often sluggish, A-class cars Honda Brio deeply discounted

Near the middle of April, many Honda dealers offered Honda Brio cars with a pretty deep discount to attract consumers’ attention. Accordingly, the cash discount currently applied to Brio G version is up to 54 million VND. Particularly Honda Brio RS version reduced 22 million with gift accessories. Most of the preferential cars belong to the 2021 version.

Thus, after the price reduction, Honda Brio is currently only about 364 to 428 million VND. The most attractive price since Honda Brio launched to the market.

Honda Brio G version is deeply discounted possibly due to the discharging policy of dealers. Because of many rumors, this version will be killed in Vietnam because it does not meet sales expectations. At some dealers, this model also gets a 100% discount on the registration fee (equivalent to VND 40-45 million) for buyers. This can be a lever to help improve sales for this model, because in the A-class car segment, there are many models that are distributed in the form of locally assembled cars and enjoy a 50% discount on registration fees.

Although it is considered to be a car with a quite sporty and dynamic appearance. Honda Brio is highly appreciated for its fuel economy. But the biggest disadvantage is the higher selling price compared to competitors in the same segment, making Brio difficult to compete and conquer customers.

It can be seen that, after nearly 3 years since its launch, the name Honda Brio is almost “faint”; and are hardly included in the list of optimal choices when buying class A cars in Vietnam. That is the reason this model often has low sales compared to competitors in the same segment of cheap cars under 500 million VND.

Last March, only 262 Honda Brio cars were sold to the market, down 27 units compared to the previous month reaching 289 units. And only 1,078 cars were sold in the first 3 months of 2022.

Previously, total sales of Honda Brio during the 12 months of 2021 only reached 2,870 units. This number is less than half of rival Kia Morning, and 5 times lower than sales of Hyundai Grand i10.
