The “devil” crocodile weighing half a ton haunts the villagers, so afraid that they bury their head in one place and another

The crocodile attacked and ate a few people before being hunted and captured by the villagers of Bangka Belitung, Indonesia.

According to some old people in the village, the crocodile lived for 50 years and “terrorized” the spirit of the villagers during that time. It is considered by the people as “the embodiment of the devil” when it is always stalking and eating people.

The people of Bangka Belitung have recruited skilled crocodile hunters to catch them. The crocodile was then caught in a knife net, struggled for two days without being able to get out and died of exhaustion.

Because the crocodile was too heavy, people had to hire an excavator to bring it to the “execution station”.

After beheading the crocodile, the villagers refused to hand over the body to the local reserve on the grounds that “the villagers would all die” if the animal was taken to another place.

Septian Garo – director of Bangka Belitung Natural reserve – said that before the crocodile was killed by the people, he and a few local leaders tried to negotiate with the villagers to take it to live elsewhere.

However, the people of Bangka Belitung believe that this crocodile has become a “devil” and cannot be taken anywhere else, even in life and death.

“Many people think that the crocodile should not be taken out of the village because it is a demon,” said Septian Garo.

After the crocodile died and was brought ashore, local officials came to check and found that there were no teeth in the animal’s mouth.

The crocodile had its head cut off and all its teeth removed. This is a ritual to “kill demons”.

“We had to bury the head and body of this crocodile in two separate places. This is a demon. Before cutting off its head, we also have to do a ceremony,” said Junaidi, head of Bangka Belitung village.
