Ca Mau Department of Health is suspected of wrongdoing when letting Viet A win the bid

On April 20, Ca Mau Provincial Police prosecuted the case Violation of regulations on bidding causes serious consequencesinvestigating signs of crime occurring at the Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control of Ca Mau Province.

This move was made because the investigation agency proved that Viet A Technology Joint Stock Company (Viet A Company) won the bid to supply an “unobjective” Covid-19 test kit with an amount of over VND 40 billion.

Previously, on November 12, 2021, the Department of Finance reported on verifying the final settlement of the project that Viet A Company won the bidding package for the second package (PCR test kit) through the form of contractor appointment with a value of more than 5. 4 billion dong. Three days later, the Department reported that this company had won a test kit package worth more than 11.7 billion VND, also in the form of contractor appointment.

Currently, the specific bidding packages with a total value of 40 billion VND as alleged by the investigating agency have not been announced.

After Mr. Phan Quoc Viet, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Viet A Company, was arrested by the Ministry of Public Security in mid-December 2021, a series of CDC leaders in provinces, leaders of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Science and Technology … was also prosecuted. A total of 21 defendants. Assets seized, blocked and distrained, worth 1,600 billion VND.

This is a case that has been monitored and directed by the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption and Anti-Corruption.
