Doctors discovered a 46-year-old woman in Vinh City (Nghe An) with an ovarian cyst weighing up to 7kg.

On April 26, information from 115 Nghe An General Hospital said that the doctors of this hospital had just surgically removed an ovarian cyst weighing 7kg from the body for a 46-year-old female patient.

Accordingly, nearly a year ago, Ms. PTT (46 years old, residing in Nghi An commune, Vinh city) discovered that her belly was getting bigger and bigger. After decades of waiting for a baby, now seeing her belly getting bigger and bigger, she’s happy because she thinks this time she’s about to become a mother.

But with the sensitivity of a woman who had had a miscarriage decades before, only a few months later she knew that she was not pregnant. However, Ms. T. still hesitated to visit the hospital.

Recently, when feeling pain, bloating and rushing about the fear of having to have an emergency surgery because of a ruptured cyst 12 years ago, Ms. T. went to 115 Nghe An General Hospital for a checkup.

Here, the doctors determined that Ms. T. was not pregnant but had a large cyst in her abdomen that took up all the space up to the epigastrium, so emergency surgery was indicated. After more than 3 hours, the 7kg ovarian cyst was successfully dissected and removed by the doctors.

Therefore, the surgery requires a harmonious coordination between many specialties and anesthesiology and resuscitation teams. At the same time, the surgeon must perform accurate dissection, limit blood loss and avoid damage to other organs in the abdomen, shorten the surgery time, and ensure the safety of the patient.

After surgery, the PTT patient recovered in good health, was alert, and the indicators were stable.
