Thousands of vehicles inched each meter on Highway 1 to leave Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai, Vung Tau, Da Lat to celebrate April 30 and May 1.

From early morning, people from Ho Chi Minh City pouring into Cat Lai ferry on the side of Thu Duc city, passing through Nhon Trach district to go to festivals in Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, causing this place to be overloaded. On Nguyen Thi Dinh route, cars and motorbikes have to be stretched and crowded together.

Dozens of employees of Cat Lai Ferry Management Enterprise took to the streets to sell manual tickets to help relieve congestion and shorten the time to check-in for passengers crossing the ferry.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan – Deputy Director of Cat Lai Ferry Management Enterprise said that the traffic situation at the ferry was tense from 15 pm yesterday to 11 pm with more than 68,000 passengers served via the ferry.

Today, the ferry continues to serve more than 75,000 passengers. Since early this morning, the traffic at the ferry is seriously congested.

“Today, we mobilized 8 ferries and strengthened our forces to separate channels and relieve traffic jams.”– Mr. Tuan informed.

At 6:30 a.m., the flow of people continued to leave Ho Chi Minh City to travel and return home for a 4-day holiday, causing the gateway routes to fall into prolonged congestion.

On the Hanoi Highway, the section in front of the BOT toll station of the Hanoi Highway, cars line up hundreds of meters in the direction of Dong Nai Bridge waiting to buy tickets manually through the station. It takes 15 minutes for each car to pass through this area.

Exiting this section, the vehicle runs to the section through Mien Dong Moi bus station (Thu Duc city) to Vung Tau junction (Bien Hoa city), National Highway 51… continues to move meter by meter.

The worst traffic jam is at the intersection of Vung Tau junction. Traffic jams extended to Dong Nai bridge.

Since early morning, thousands of cars have been congested moving on the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway, causing great pressure on traffic. There was a collision causing congestion on the expressway passing the Long Phuoc toll station area in the direction of Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai.

In order to clear vehicles, Vietnam Expressway Technical Services Joint Stock Company (VEC-E) has conducted discharge of Long Phuoc toll station (direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai) from 5:45 a.m. on the same day.
