Ms. L was carried down the mountain by rescue workers after being trapped in the abyss for 7 days.

According to Mrs. L., on April 27, she went alone from Hanoi to Quang Ninh to cut off Southern medicine to treat osteoarthritis pain.

When passing Uong Bi, Mrs. L. stopped at Yen Tu to worship the pagoda. She bought sightseeing tickets and round trip cable car tickets to the top of Dong Pagoda.

After the ceremony at Dong Pagoda, Mrs. L. went back down the mountain. After walking for a while, she felt dizzy, so she sat down on the railing next to the cliff to rest. When she got up, she stumbled and fell down the cliff. Fortunately, thanks to the support of the tree below, she did not cause injury.

“Struggling to find a way to climb up, I slipped and fell again down the cliff. The second fall was more painful than the previous one, plus my body was tired, so I couldn’t climb up by myself.”Ms. L. recounted.

Due to the difficult terrain, few people pass through and especially, the area at the top of Dong Pagoda is very windy, the weather is often cloudy, so even though Mrs. L. cried for help from the bottom for many days, no one heard.

“When I knew I couldn’t climb up on my own, I immediately thought of trying to survive to wait for the opportunity to be saved. When I fell into the cliff, I still had some rice cakes and a piece of burnt rice in my pocket and half a bottle of water. . I divide each meal by 2 knuckles to hold my breath”Ms. L. recounted.

Victims eat fern roots and passionflower bulbs to survive falling into a cliff.

According to some staff from Yen Tu National Forest and Monuments Management Board, the area where Ms. L. fell has very difficult terrain. Before that, a man from Bac Giang was also found 1.5 days after falling into the cliff. When he was rescued, the man passed out from hunger.

And the case of Mrs. L. is indeed very miraculous when she fell into the cliff for 7 days but was still healthy.

“After two days, I ran out of food. I started digging up the roots of the fern and the tubers of passionflower to eat. When I ran out of water, I rummaged through the garbage, looking for bottles of water that tourists had thrown away to drink. I I even picked up half a bottle of limited lemon salt from 2019. When I’m very thirsty, I take a sip.”Ms. L. said.

According to Mr. Le Tien Dung, Head of Yen Tu National Forest and Monuments Management Board, Ms. L’s survival instinct is too good. Moreover, the passion fruit that she eats not only replenishes nutrients but also regulates blood pressure as a valuable medicine for people with depression.
