Nursing accounts for 70% of the medical workforce in Vietnam

Up to 70% of the service force at medical examination and treatment facilities, nurses make an important contribution to the treatment and care of patients. Requirement of human resources to ensure quantity and quality is the challenge of this industry.

Over the years, the nursing industry in Vietnam has been formed and developed, especially the National Children’s Hospital – the first hospital with a nursing room.

The nursing force soon formed, organized a network, and developed a model of international outreach. According to Mr. Khue, in the two years of fighting the epidemic, the doctors of the National Children’s Hospital in general and the nursing force in particular have not only tried to do well in medical examination and treatment, but also successfully deployed many high-tech techniques. Especially recently, the hospital has completely mastered the technique of liver transplantation for children.

Currently, in the context of integration, the increasing demand for human health care requires nursing human resources to ensure both quantity and quality.

According to statistics of the Vietnam Nursing Association, the country has more than 140,000 nurses/midwives. The average nursing rate per 10,000 population in Vietnam is currently 11.4, which is much lower than the world average. The Vietnam Nursing Association aims to achieve the target of 25 nurses/10 thousand people by 2025.

The 16th National Pediatric Nursing Scientific Conference has 16 reports, of which 2 are from foreign experts from the Resource Exchange International (REI) and Medrix Organization; along with reports from experts from domestic hospitals. These are the Central Pediatric Hospital, the 108 Military Hospital, the provincial hospitals…

“Not only with the goal of sharing information and new knowledge to take care of patients, the conference is also an opportunity for nurses to access new knowledge”, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Dien, Director of Trung Children’s Hospital affirmation, affirmation.
