On the afternoon of May 13, at Cau Giay Gymnasium (Hanoi) continued to take place the quarter-final matches of the men’s 56kg, 60kg, 65kg and 70kg weight classes.

Notably, a Cambodian boxer suddenly fell to the floor and lost consciousness after a hit from a Thai boxer. Immediately after, the Cambodian boxer had to leave the field on a stretcher. The final victory belonged to the Thai boxer.

Specifically, in the match in the 65kg weight class, boxer Rathana of the Cambodian Wushu team met with the Thai Wushu fighter. When the signal of the match was only 10 seconds left, Rathana suddenly received a blow with his opponent’s foot to the shoulder blade and fell to the ground unconscious.

Faced with that situation, the referee stopped the match, medical forces and volunteers quickly arrived and immediately put the Cambodian boxer on a stretcher and taken to the medical room.

After exactly 1 hour, a quick exchange with PV Dan Viet, Ms. Trinh Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cau Giay District, Head of the Organizing Committee of Wushu competition at SEA Games 31 said that Cambodian boxer Rathana was awake, temporary health.

After a while, Rathana came out with a rather tired look. A volunteer in charge of taking care of Rathana informed that the Cambodian boxer was hit a lot during the match, especially a fatal blow to the shoulder. “In addition to the lack of water in the body, he fainted after being hit by the opponent’s very strong leg.”

This is the second case that the medical team had to take special care at the Cau Giay Gymnasium on the first day of the Wushu game.

Earlier, in the morning, while doing his test in the men’s Tai Chi event, athlete Nguyen Van Phuong of Vietnam during his performance was quite good most of the time and had the opportunity to do so. Guild to compete for medals with rivals. However, at the end of the test, Nguyen Van Phuong encountered a problem.

As noted by Dan Viet, Nguyen Van Phuong received first aid for nearly 30 minutes, then was helped out by the coach. In a quick exchange with PV, Nguyen Van Phuong’s coach only briefly said that he had knee pain and did not disclose any further information.
