Nguyen Thi Oanh entered the 3000m obstacle course on the evening of May 15 at My Dinh Stadium, this is also the final content of the Bac Giang runners competing in SEA Games 31.

With the level of the defending champion, Nguyen Thi Oanh quickly broke through, confidently leading the race alone.

With tireless running steps and easy technique to overcome obstacles, Nguyen Thi Oanh finished first, far ahead of the rest of the competitors.

Immediately after reaching the finish line, the 26-year-old athlete shouted loudly to celebrate.

“I am very happy that I have completed all the contents of the competition as well as fulfilled my goal of defending all three gold medals that I won at the previous Games.”

“It must be said that the competition schedule is a huge challenge for me when yesterday, I competed in the 1500m in the morning, in the afternoon at the 5000m and today the 3000m in the obstacle course. Besides, after finishing each content, I also have to do a doping test, so the rest time is very little. That’s why being able to win all three gold medals is difficult,” shared Nguyen Thi Oanh.

Especially with a record of 9 minutes 52 seconds 46, Nguyen Thi Oanh excellently broke the SEA Games record, which was also set by herself at 10 minutes 0 seconds 02 at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines in 2019.

The champion expressed his great surprise when he learned that he had broken the SEA Games record.

“Honestly, I am very worried, even losing sleep because I don’t know if I have enough health to complete all of my registered content because of the busy schedule and the difficult preparation process. So breaking the record was a huge surprise to me,” Oanh confided.

Nguyen Thi Oanh deserves the title of “golden girl in Vietnamese athletics village” when she won 3 gold medals in all 3 events at SEA Games 31 (running 1500m, 5000m and 3000m obstacle course).
