More than 3,000 billion VND to upgrade North – South railway

The Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport) said that the unit has just submitted to the Ministry of Transport for appraisal and approval a feasibility study report on construction investment of a project to renovate and upgrade the Hanoi – Vinh section and Vinh section. – Nha Trang and the Nha Trang – Saigon section on the route North-South railway with a total investment of more than 3,000 billion VND.

Accordingly, the project to renovate and upgrade the Hanoi – Vinh section has a total estimated investment of more than 854 billion VND, and the project to renovate and upgrade the Vinh – Nha Trang section has a total estimated investment of more than 1,190 billion VND. . Meanwhile, the project to renovate and upgrade the Nha Trang – Saigon section has a total investment of more than 1,000 billion VND.

The project to renovate and upgrade the Hanoi – Vinh section has construction sites across the provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An. Investment capital used State budget in the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period. The project is expected to be implemented in 3 years, period 2022-2025.

Regarding the project investment scale, renovating and upgrading the national railway of 1,000mm gauge with the following items: Renovating and upgrading weak bridges; renovating the upper floor architecture in some sections; a number of work items to ensure synchronous exploitation (drainage culverts…); handle the intersection between road and railway.

Regarding bridge works, this project will renovate and upgrade 10 weak bridges; Line works: Renovating and upgrading upper floor architecture (replacing rails, sleepers, marbles…) 8 sections, about 24km in length. Along with that, to build a road bridge on Highway 45 to cross the railway at the crossroads at km187+950 to handle the intersection between the road and the railway.

Meanwhile, the project to renovate and upgrade the Vinh – Nha Trang section has a starting point at Vinh station and an end point at Nha Trang station with a total length of about 996 km. The scope of investment does not include items under the project of strengthening weak tunnels in combination with opening new stations and renovating the upper floor architecture of the Vinh – Nha Trang section and the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City railway line in Decision No. No. 2877/QD-BGTVT dated December 28, 2018 of the Ministry of Transport, using medium-term capital from 2016 – 2020 (under the package of VND 7,000 billion).

Accordingly, the project will renovate and upgrade 15 weak bridges; upgrading the architecture of the upper floor (replacing rails, sleepers, marble…) 6 sections, total length of more than 57km; repairing the weak roadbed in 2 sections, about 2.9km in length. Along with that, will repair and renovate 4 passenger stations including Dong Le, Dong Ha, Hue, Nha Trang; 4 cargo stations include Huong Pho, Kim Lien, Quang Ngai, and Dieu Tri.

As for the project of renovating and upgrading the Nha Trang – Saigon section, according to the Railway Project Management Board, this project has a total estimated investment value of more than VND 1,098 billion; investment capital using the state budget in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025. The project is expected to be implemented in 3 years, period 2022-2025.

The scope of project implementation is in the Nha Trang – Saigon railway section, the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City railway line, with the starting point at Nha Trang station (Km1314+930) and the ending point at Saigon station (Km1726+). 200) with a total length of about 411km.
