ChinaTo get to the convenience store located in Hunan Provincial Park, visitors have to climb a 120-meter cliff.
The shop is actually a small wooden hut, just enough room for one person to stand, inside selling snacks, chips and drinks, serving climbers who want to recharge midway.
Shoppers have to climb a 120-meter cliff in the Shiniuzhai National Geopark, Hunan Province. Due to its difficult-to-access location, this place has been dubbed “the world’s most inconvenient convenience store”.
According to CCTV, the store has only one employee. The prices of the dishes are affordable, a bottle of water is 2 yuan (nearly 7,000 VND). What most people care about is the staff. “It must have taken a lot of effort for the staff of the geopark to climb up and down this place every day,” one person commented.
The sales staff said that their daily job is to stand to sell, and replenish items that have been sold out before dawn to serve customers during the day. “Every new employee is a little scared at first when being assigned a job. But they all get used to it quickly. Our only problem is the toilet. It’s tiring when every time you want to use the toilet, you have to climb up and down the stairs. So we all try not to drink too much water,” said a salesman.
“Shoppers all express gratitude for this service. So we feel our work is very meaningful,” said another employee.
Shiniuzhai National Geopark is a popular scenic tourist destination with steep cliffs, waterfalls, and beautiful hiking trails. According to CCTV, a convenience store in the park opened in 2018 but is now closed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. They will reopen when the epidemic is reversed.
