The People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City has just accepted the file and is preparing to schedule a trial for the case of NTVA child being tortured to death at the Topaz 2 Saigon Pearl apartment building (Binh Thanh district).

Immediately after transferring the case file to the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City, the People’s Procuracy of the same level signed a decision to request the Court to summon 6 people to attend the trial of 2 defendants Nguyen Vo Quynh Trang (27 years old, from Gia Lai) and Nguyen Kim Trung Thai (37 years old, living in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
Accordingly, 6 people were proposed to be summoned to attend the trial, including: Ms. Nguyen Thi H. (A.’s mother), A.’s paternal grandmother; nannies A. and Ms. P. (teacher of Dinh Tien Hoang Primary School, District 1) and 2 security guards of the hospital where A. was taken to the emergency room.
The case will be handled by Judge Nguyen Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the Family and Juvenile Court.
Records show that during the time she lived with A., Trang knew that she was only an 8-year-old child, not yet fully developed mentally and physically, completely dependent on Trang and Thai.
However, Trang still repeatedly used hands, feet, whips, metal rods (connecting pipes of vacuum cleaners), wooden trees, etc., to beat and torture A.
Trang forced A. to take off his clothes, raise his hands high to kneel to study, get into the doghouse, beat him and scold him… Repeated behavior for a long time has left physical pain body and mind for you.
Thai is a father, has the obligation to take care, raise and protect grandson A. But when he saw his son being beaten and abused by Trang, he did not stop and participated in scolding and beating grandson A.
On December 22, 2021, Trang used a round wooden tree (90cm long, 2.2cm wide) as a dangerous weapon, and used her hands and feet to beat A.’s body continuously for a period of time. 4 hours in a row causing the victim to die.
During the investigation, Trang declared that she beat A. because she did not study well. However, this statement is false. Due to the verification results at the school, working with the homeroom teacher and nanny all showed that A. was obedient and quick to absorb lessons.
The camera data shows that there were many times Trang hit grandson A. not while A. was studying and hitting him for unreasonable reasons, making excuses to hit him.
In addition, the investigation results showed that Thai did not want to have children with Trang, and the Thai family did not accept Trang. Therefore, Trang herself is very jealous of her biological mother A., once went to her house to forbid her biological mother to see her grandson A., went to Thai’s Facebook account to delete all pictures of her ex-wife’s face.
Upon learning of Trang’s criminal behavior, Thai deleted all camera data of the apartment in order to conceal Trang’s behavior, avoid detection by authorities, and hinder the investigation and handling process.
