One of two 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupés has just been sold for $143 million. In other words, it’s almost $100 million higher than the previous record.

This SLR is based on the two-time world championship W196R Grand Prix car driven by F1 legend Juan Manuel Fangio. However, it has a larger 3-liter engine meant for motorsports races. In 1955, it won the World Sportscar Championship.

Ferrari 250 GTO 1962 – $48,405,000
