Passenger plane goes missing in Nepal
One piece plane carrying 22 people went missing in Nepal on May 29.
The small plane made a scheduled 15-minute flight from the tourist town of Pokhara to the mountain town of Jomsom, Sky News reports. Nepali and lost contact with air traffic control shortly after takeoff.
Local police said there was no information about the Twin Otter plane, belonging to Tara Air and were conducting a search.
The 9N-AET plane is said to have lost contact at 9:55 a.m. local time, according to a Tara Air official.
The Kathmandu Post quoted an air traffic controller at Jomsom airport as saying that he had received reports of loud noises in Jomsom’s Ghasa.
The publication added that a helicopter was dispatched to the areas where the last contact was made, which was at Lete Pass.
The plane was carrying 13 Nepalis, 4 Indians, 2 Germans and 3 crew members.
The area has been raining for several days, however, flights are still operating normally.
The route the plane took required it to fly between mountains before landing in a valley.
