University of Natural Sciences topped the National Mathematical Olympiad 2022

This year’s national student-student Math Olympiad received the participation of 102 delegations (58 universities, academies and 44 high schools across the country) with 767 candidates. Specifically: 249 students participated in Algebra, 244 students in Calculus, divided into 2 groups A and B. In high school, 362 students took the exam with 2 exams in 2 days.

As a result, in Algebra 26 first prizes, 41 second prizes, 70 third prizes, 23 consolation prizes. Calculus: 20 first prizes, 38 second prizes, 64 third prizes and 23 consolation prizes.

For high school students, the organizers awarded 29 first prizes, 59 second prizes, 82 third prizes and 32 consolation prizes.

Although not ranking the delegations, the organizers recognized the excellent achievements of the delegations from the University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), the University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City). ) with the leading achievement of Group A (6 first, 3 second, 1 third); University of Mining and Geology leads group B (7 first, 2 second, 1 encouragement).

The High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences leads the high schools with 6 first prizes and 3 second prizes.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Mathematical Association, Head of the Organizing Committee of the National Mathematical Olympiad for students – students in 2022, after 2 years of interruption due to the COVID pandemic. The exam was held on April 23 and 24, in the form of on-site teams under the supervision of the Organizing Committee via camera and cross-monitoring between delegations via Zoom software.

In terms of individuals, at the university level, 6 students won first prizes in both Algebra and Calculus, including: Nguyen Truong Thinh (University of Information Technology – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), Nguyen Mac Nam Trung, Nguyen Tien Hoang (University of Science – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), Tra Tran Quy Thien (Quy Nhon University), Le Van Manh (Ho Chi Minh City University of Education), Ngo Thanh Ha (University) Quang Nam). In particular, student Nguyen Mac Nam Trung ranked first in both subjects (29.5/30 VND for Algebra and 30/30 VND for Calculus).

In high school, the three students with the highest scores came from the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences: Tran Thang Long (52/60 points), Pham Duy Nguyen Lam and Dang Quang Thang (both 51/60).
