The elevated walkway between the two buildings

The Netherlands is facing the effects of climate change, especially floods. Recently, an organization in the port city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands has built an elevated walkway connecting the two buildings so that residents can have a look at the future climate.

A 600-meter-long elevated walkway with open space above, connects the rooftop of the city’s World Trade Center building with a shopping mall. People can admire the scenery below from a height of nearly 30 meters above the road surface. The walkway is equipped with wind turbines, solar panels, art galleries and drone landings.

The above idea was implemented by the “Rooftop Days” project to provide a solution for “unlocking” unused spaces.

With about a third of its territory below sea level, the Netherlands is facing sea level rise every year.
