“There was an invisible force affecting me, and immediately, I put Pakistan on the list of must-go destinations in life,” Thanh Tam shared.
And from there, the journey to discover a strange land begins.
“Emirate” with many cultures
Pakistan is incredibly culturally diverse, heavily influenced by religion, and has a long history. Along with that, the geographical position bordering many countries such as India, Afghanistan, Central Asia, South Asia, West Asia, …, has created a multi-colored resonance here. The country has more than 15 main ethnic groups, differing in physical characteristics, historical bloodlines, customs, languages, costumes, cuisine, etc.

Because of that, Thanh Tam feels like traveling in many different countries. “Each state, each valley has its own culture, its own religion, its own language. Even the face is different, like between Punjab province (bordering India) and KPK (bordering Afghanistan), Gilgit Baltistan (bordering China),” Tam said.
It is known that the number of languages currently spoken in Pakistan is more than 60, of which about 6 are the most commonly used.
The natural landscape is endowed in Pakistan
The cultural diversity entails the gentleness and hospitality unique to the Pakistani people. For Tam, this is the most hospitable country among the places she has been to when receiving many invitations to stay from the local people.
Not only that, the natural landscape endowed with green grass valleys lying still by the great rivers, beautiful lakes and wild and majestic nature have kept Thanh Tam here.

Before the trip, she spent 2 months applying for a visa, researching immigration procedures, hunting for air tickets and finding out details for her journey. The flight from Vietnam to Pakistan will go through 3 routes, transiting in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Colombo (Sri Lanka). Then it was an 80-day journey in 14 places, provinces, cities, …
“Family” found in Pakistan
The most interesting thing about the trip was when Thanh Tam found family love in Pakistan. During her backpacking trip, the Vietnamese girl often looks for local families to stay. According to Tam, that is the only way for oneself to directly learn and experience culture and religion.

“One thing I did not expect was that I received a lot of attention, invitations to host me from locals all over Pakistan. I actively contacted the hosts in the places I wanted to go. Most of me live with host families in all the places mentioned above. Sometimes, I switch to a hotel when I want to have a private space for myself”, Thanh Tam shared.

Although the trip had many problems and troubles such as illness, food poisoning or legal issues such as being invited out of people’s houses for security issues, falling from a car because of bad roads, etc., it still didn’t make her Vietnamese girls love this country and its people less.
“I was also adopted by a family in Hunza”, that sharing is enough to show that this girl has fallen in love with Pakistan.
