Accumulated up to now, seed stocking has reached 2,000 hectares, reaching 80% of the plan in 2022, the output of high-tech shrimp farming has reached 18,000 tons.

Currently, Ben Tre province is implementing investment projects in technical infrastructure of shrimp farming areas applying high technology to realize the goal of developing 4,000 hectares of high-tech marine shrimp farming in the area of ​​3 coastal districts by 2020. 2025 (Binh Dai district 2,000 ha, Ba Tri district 500 ha, Thanh Phu district 1,500 ha).

High-tech shrimp farming is a growing trend due to its great efficiency compared to traditional farming. Many farmers have boldly invested to earn big profits. However, the capital source for investment in hi-tech shrimp farming is quite high.

However, if farming with high technology, it costs tens of times more for machinery, equipment, system of settling ponds and water storage ponds.

High-tech shrimp farming model is thriving in Ben Tre

To help businesses and farmers develop this potential industry, the Resolution of the Party Congress of Ben Tre province for the 2020-2025 term sets out the goal of striving to turn Ben Tre into a fairly developed province in the river delta region. Cuu Long in 2025 and the whole country in 2030, identify 6 key product groups, including: Coconuts, fruit trees, seedlings and ornamental flowers, pigs, cows, shrimps. With shrimp products, Ben Tre aims to complete 4,000 hectares of high-tech shrimp farming with a production value of US$1 billion by 2025.

To concretize the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People’s Committee has issued a plan to develop 4,000 hectares of brackish water shrimp farming with high technology application by 2025, with a total estimated investment of more than 10,705 billion VND, of which, the state budget. State budget is more than 1,200 billion VND, the rest is people’s capital and enterprise capital is 9,500 billion VND.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh, Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People’s Committee, in the coming time, the province will convert some inefficient agricultural production areas in 3 districts of Ba Tri, Binh Dai and Thanh Phu into specialized aquaculture areas. , high-tech shrimp farming in accordance with planning, associated with processing and consumption markets.

At the same time, prioritize the implementation of infrastructure construction projects, especially the water supply and drainage canal system for concentrated shrimp farming areas and high-tech shrimp farming areas in three coastal districts.
