Mark Zuckerberg advises young people to focus on building relationships

In a recent Podcast by computer engineer Lex Fridman (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Zuckerberg said he couldn’t find Facebook in 2004 not by dropping out of school or giving up other interests. It was because of the personal relationship he had at school.

Prioritizing relationships over goals also partially explains some of Zuckerberg’s controversial decisions when leading Meta. Zuckerberg said that Facebook “can’t create a corporate culture that says they care about diversity, but then eliminates half of its people just because they support a certain political candidate.”

Many critics argue that Zuckerberg’s retention of Thiel, an early investor in Facebook, may have influenced the way Facebook monitored, or ignored, misinformation on the social network prior to the meeting, which is running for the 2016 and 2020 elections.
