Saudi Arabia plans to build the tallest twin towers in the world

Within the framework of Neom – the brainchild of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a twin tower about 500 m high is expected to be built.

It will be a complex of housing, office space and retail that spans tens of kilometers, from the Red Sea coast to the desert, the sources said. The plan is different from the plan announced last year to build a chain of infrastructure connected by a super-fast subway system.

If the new plan is implemented, each tower will be larger than the largest buildings today. It should be noted that the majority of these are factories or commercial centers rather than residential areas.

Announced in 2017, Neom is Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s ambition to transform an almost uninhabited region of Saudi Arabia into a high-tech, semi-autonomous city known as The Line.

This is part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s plan to attract foreign investment, diversify Saudi Arabia’s economy to break away from dependence on oil revenue.

The Line, a vehicle-free smart linear city, will be the backbone of Neom and will cost $200 billion to build, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said last year. However, this number was announced before the Neom development plan changed, which did not include the giant twin towers mentioned above.
