Cars are scarce, dealers make bargains, many customers pay deposits

Many customers complain that they have booked Hyundai Tucson before Tet but have not yet received the car. The dealer even asked for a “lost” price increase, making them urgent to withdraw the deposit to find another car.

The new generation Hyundai Tucson will be launched in Vietnam at the end of 2021 and immediately create attraction with many customers looking for a high-rise car in the price range of about 1 billion VND. However, since its launch until now, this model has always been in a rare condition. Customers are tired of waiting, while the dealer is constantly asking for a price increase “lost”, making them angry, simultaneously withdrawing deposit, redirecting to buy another car.

Ordered a Hyundai Tucson from the end of December 2021 (before the Lunar New Year) but until now, March 2022, Mr. Phan Van Quoc in Cau Dien, Hanoi has not yet received the car.

“I paid a deposit for the car in December, at that time I accepted to pay an additional 25 million dong for accessories, by the end of February this year, the sales newspaper did not have a car. Now the dealer wants to renegotiate the price, from “lost”. “25 million to 150 million dong to receive the car. 150 million but they do it as 150 thousand. I was so angry that I withdrew the deposit, could not accept the dealer’s snatching business”, Mr. Quoc said.

Ordered Hyundai Tucson since Tet still has no car, customers pay a deposit at the same time

In the same situation as Mr. Quoc, Mr. Hoang Van Thuy in Dak Lak also said that he had ordered a car since December at the listed price, so far there is no car. The dealer asked him to add 120 million to buy new accessories, but he refused and canceled the contract and asked for the deposit back.

The story of waiting to receive the car of Mr. Tran Van Duc in Da Nang is also sympathized by many other customers with the same plight. Duc said, he deposited the car in mid-February under an open contract, the price agreed upon when the car was available.

On March 30, the dealer reported that he had a good red Tucson Turbo car with a good price, down 20 million VND. Mr. Duc couldn’t help but be happy when he thought that the price of the car was still 1 billion. However, the salesman explained that the price of the car at the dealer is currently 1,120 billion VND (100 million difference), but because Duc made an early deposit, it was reduced to 1.1 billion VND.

“The channel is up to 80 million VND and still talks about grace. After listening, I asked to withdraw the deposit and now I have ordered another car. After this round, the car dealers asked to sell the “beer with peanuts” style. must lose points in the eyes of consumers like us”, Mr. Duc said.

“My family also accepts “beer beer” or channel for 1.1 billion VND, but it’s still just waiting, not sure if I will receive the car. Therefore, I think I will turn to buy a Peugeot 3008. It’s okay to spend money on the channel 100 million and then buy the wrong value of the car, and then have to wait and get angry”, said Ms. Thu Huong in Hanoi also said.

Not only Tucson but now, Hyundai Santa Fe is also in a similar situation, even some customers have had their deposit returned by the dealer because there is no car to deliver on time. Many other models of Toyota, Kia, and Ford brands were also adjusted to increase their prices by 25-30 million dong.

Buying a car “beer with peanuts” is in fact quite familiar in Vietnam with “hot” models that many people are interested in. However, in the past, most of this situation usually fell only before the Lunar New Year, when the demand for buying cars was higher than the supply.

This year alone, the sale of cars with this price difference still lasts until April in many models. The reason is due to a lack of semiconductor chips, which significantly slows down the factory’s production capacity. The supply is scarce, causing dealers to arbitrarily set prices in the market.
