The accident happened on the afternoon of April 10 when three cable car cabins collided, while about 48 tourists were taking the cable car route up Trikut hill, Deoghar district, Jharkhand state, eastern India.
Local officials said one woman was killed and one seriously injured in the crash, while more than 20 people were still waiting to be rescued. The plane dropped food and water for those waiting to be rescued.
According to a Deoghar district official, the rescue team with the support of helicopters of the Indian Air Force has brought more than 20 people to safety.
“We have rescued more than 20 people but some are still trapped,” a Deoghar district official said.
The 775-meter-tall Trikut Cable Car is popular with tourists and pilgrims who make the journey to the nearby Hindu temple of Baba Baidyanath.
