Buying a supercar to go is too normal, a millionaire uses a car to do something unexpected

In a video posted on Drive Tribe’s YouTube channel, answering a question about the most regretful car decision of his life, journalist Richard Hammond said it was the sale of the Morgan AeroMax supercar.

Richard Hammond was forced to part with the Morgan AeroMax because his wife did not like this car, or even hated it.

He finally gave in and sold it to an agent, who was eventually bought by an Australian gentleman. Although he has sold the car, he still hopes to one day contact the new owner to buy it back.

However, the recent utopia prevented Hammond’s dream of seeing his beloved car again. “Recently, I learned that he asked for permission – as required – to be buried in his car after his death. Of course he is alive, but on that day he will be buried in a Morgan AeroMax car. that I have always loved,” Hammond explained.

In this world, only about 100 Morgan AeroMax have ever been produced. This car that once belonged to Hammond is even more special because on the rails along with the engine, the words “made for Richard Hammond” are written.

“Obviously I wouldn’t want to buy it again because it would have his ‘body’ in it,” Hammond said. “One of the nicer things about the car is the interior but a stiff Aussie inside wouldn’t make it any nicer, would it? So it’s sad that it’s one of those cars that has been very, very meaningful and will stay with me for the rest of my life.”

Morgan AeroMax was acquired by Allen in 2014 for about 265,000 ASD (~4.54 billion VND). The Morgan AeroMax is limited to just over 100 pieces worldwide and Allen is currently one of its owners.

Philip Allen is an Australian businessman, millionaire and also the owner of a company that imports JBL and Kickers car speakers into the Australian market. In addition, Allen is also a famous car collector. He owns a series of rare and terrible cars such as the 1935 MG PA Airline coupe, the 1974 Lancia Stratos Stradale coupe, the 2001 Maserati 3200 coupe, the 2008 Morgan Aeromax…

Retromotive magazine once had an interview with millionaire Philip Allen. Through the interview, Allen shared his desire to bring his rare Morgan AeroMax with him when he died.

The rare super car Morgan AeroMax is sought after by many people.

According to the plan, the Morgan AeroMax will be put in a 6-meter-long container and then placed in the ground and Allen will also lift the Morgan’s chassis because he doesn’t want the tires to run out of air. “The container will be sealed to prevent air and water from entering,” Mr. Allen added. “We’re going to dig a grave, bury the container in it, and put a concrete slab on top to cover it up.”

In addition, the Australian millionaire also wishes to have his family dressed in his best outfit with a leather jacket, leather pants and crocodile leather shoes when he dies. Meanwhile, his body will be placed in the driver’s seat with one hand holding the steering wheel and the other holding a cigar.

The estimated cost of Allen’s planned funeral will be around 350,000 AUD (~ 6 billion VND) and he thinks it is completely worth it. “I’m a big fan of car art and when I first saw the Morgan AeroMax, I knew it was a four-wheeled sculpture,” the millionaire shared.

Morgan AeroMax launched in 2008, has a starting price of 110,000 pounds (~ 3.5 billion VND) and after 16 years the price has increased by about 33,000 pounds (~ 1.05 billion VND). The increasing value of the Morgan Aeromax is not surprising as the Morgan is now a favorite of car collectors around the world.

In fact, Philip Allen is the third owner of this Morgan. Earlier in 2011, Richard Hammond sold his Morgan to former MotoGP and World Superbike racer Chris Vermeulen. This former racer brought the Morgan from Europe to Australia and after 3 years he sold it to Philip Allen.

Morgan AeroMax is a coupe version of the Aero 8 and owns a BMW V8 engine block, with a capacity of 4.8L, producing a maximum power of 380 horsepower. Thanks to that, Morgan Aeromax is capable of accelerating from 0-100km / h in less than 5 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 256 km / h.
